The school
Lingua Toscana is an intercultural project started some 15 years ago by language teacher Barbara Ginanneschi.
Since 2011 it has enjoyed the patronage of the municipality of Suvereto. The main aim of the project is the dissemination of Italian language and culture and the promotion of cultural exchange between different nationalities. The language courses take place in Suvereto, an attractive little mediaeval town in southern Tuscany. The school is just a 3 minute walk away from the historical centre.

The courses
Lingua Toscana runs intensive courses
, thematic courses (wine harvest and olive harvest), courses for groups and companies, individual or small group classes, and an interesting cultural program in the afternoon to introduce our course participants to this beautiful area. Our teachers are native speakers trained and qualified in the teaching of Italian. Of particular importance to us is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the course. This will enable you to improve your communication skills in an enjoyable manner and encourage you to explore the area in Italian. You can also book our cultural program in the afternoon and discover a lot about this area, the picturesque little towns and their delicacies.

The Method
Our teaching approach is communicative.
Language is always presented in a context: through stories, reading passages and dialogues you will learn about the Italian way of life and also acquire the linguistic means to act autonomously and communicate in Italy. In our courses we use a variety of techniques such as movement, games, role plays and group work, aiming to make learning both pleasant and effective. A relaxed atmosphere and a wide variety of materials with a practical orientation make learning easy. Group work, conversation and communicative activities ensure your active involvement. Using up to date authentic material you will also analyze colloquial Italian and its grammatical structures, speak a lot and listen a lot. Your communicative ability will improve rapidly.

Cultural program
We offer a comprehensive afternoon cultural program:
excursions to interesting places in the area, visits to the Baratti-Populonia archaeological park and the San Silvestro mining park near Campiglia Marittima, cookery courses, tours of wine cellars, etc.

Our aim is not only to introduce our course participants to this beautiful part of the world and its fascinating history but also to give them the opportunity to use Italian outside the classroom and to meet the local people. A language guide on excursions and visits is included in the price of the course.

Accommodation
Suvereto and the surrounding area offer a wide variety of accommodation from holiday apartments to hotels, campsites and bed & breakfast.
You can choose the accommodation you prefer, directly in Suvereto or in the countryside, in a modern apartment or on a renovated farm, with or without a swimming pool. The decision is entirely yours. If desired we can arrange accommodation or provide information and make bookings. Let us know what you would like and we will find suitable accommodation for you.

Suvereto
Suvereto is an attractive small town with about 3000 inhabitants situated in the northern Maremma Toscana
. On a rise 100 meters above sea level, it affords fantastic views over scrub woodlands, vineyards and olive groves to the Etruscan coast. The Tyrrhenian Sea is only 15 kilometers distant.

Suvereto is a jewel of the middle ages: its centre is surrounded by thick walls, the alleys are cobbled and most of the buildings are of stone with simple unplastered facades. In the surrounding area there is a wealth of sights and leisure opportunities: the architecture and history of the countless small towns, museums, excavations, walking paths, not forgetting the beautifully clean sea for sailing, surfing, diving, etc. Furthermore, it is not far from Suvereto to the most important towns and cities in Tuscany such as Pisa, Lucca, Siena, Florence...
